Multiplex Melbourne Projects Round Up 2019

2019 is shaping up to be a significant year for global construction company Multiplex. With multiple Melbourne developments at various stages in the construction pipeline, here are the Multiplex projects taking shape in Melbourne 2019.

405 BOURKE STREET

Part of a larger redevelopment of the city centre between Queen and Elizabeth streets, 405 Bourke street will be a 39-level building at a height of 167 meters. The building will consist of 30 floors of office space, premium office accommodating, and outdoor rooftop terrace.  

This collaboration between Multiplex, Brookfield Asset Management and ISPT will seek to meet 5 Star GreenStar and 5 Star NABERS environmental standards. 405 Bourke Street will also provide access to Melbourne’s city centre shopping district and European-style laneways.

Construction is due for completion in 2021.

MELBOURNE GRAND

Situated at 560 Lonsdale Street, this apartment tower is a $450 million project for client Central Equity and designed by the renowned Guilford Bell & Graham Fisher Architects.

The 57 level high-rise building will offer large, high-end apartments of one, two and three bedroom configurations.

The building will also incorporate a refurbishment of the Temperance Hotel at 556 Lonsdale Street. The Temperance Hotel is one of Melbourne’s oldest buildings and an important heritage site dating back to the mid-19th century.

Completion of the Melbourne Grand is expected for late 2020.

QUEEN’S PLACE

Multiplex will be delivering a residential tower as part of the mixed-use development at Queen’s Place, 350 Queen Street in Melbourne.

A collaboration between Cox Architecture and Fender Katsalidis Architects, the completed development will consist of twin towers and 1,500 apartments across 80 levels.

The development will also provide retail and commercial spaces, a public plaza with shopping strip, and luxury-style amenities for residents including restaurants, cinemas, a library, a poker and mah jong room, garden terrace, karaoke and cigar bars.

Construction is due for completion early 2021.

TRADES HALL LIVING HERITAGE

This heritage project involves a refurbishment of the historic Trades Hall building in Carlton, undertaken by Trades Hall & Literary Institute, Lovell Chen and Multiplex.

Construction will focus on refurbishment of the New Council Chamber and provide a building services upgrades. The conservation project is aimed at opening up the historic building to public access.

276 FLINDERS STREET

This $24 million project will be client Fivex’s second commercial office building in Melbourne.

The 5-storey building will consist of approximately 3,300 square metres and will include a mixed-use retail precinct. The lower levels will include childcare and fitness centres alongside retail and food outlets, while the upper levels will provide office space.

The building has been designed by Baldasso Cortese Architects with a contemporary and sustainable layout. The team are also deploying new construction methods with the use of lightweight materials like steel grid and cross-laminated timber.

PARAGON

Melbourne’s Paragon tower is a collaboration between Multiplex, Beulah international and Fender Katsalidis architects, a project worth $97 million.

Situated at 316-322 Queen Street in the heart of Melbourne, the high-end residential tower will reach a height of 48-storeys and comprise of 227 apartments.

The building will include a communal space complete with lounge, theatre, library, bar and dining room. The building will also include a 15-metre swimming pool and spa & fitness facilities, with a double-level greenspace terrace.

Construction will finish mid-2020.

MELBOURNE SQUARE

OSK Property Group, Cox Architecture and Multiplex have come together to deliver the $2.8 billion Melbourne Square project. The mixed-use development will be one of the largest of its kind in Melbourne.

Straddling Power, Kavanagh and Balston Streets in Southbank, Melbourne Square will include six towers ranging from 38 to 73 storeys. Stage One of the project is a $490 million delivery of twin residential towers consisting of ground floor retail space and landscaped parklands.

The project is due for completion in 2020.
