Crema Constructions has been appointed as the builder for the Normanby Melbourne project in Southbank.
The Marriott and Capital Alliance joint venture will be a 40 storey mixed-use building featuring a 200 room AC Hotel by Marriott and 100 residential apartments, to open in 2020.
The hotel is the second major development by Marriott International and Capital Alliance, with construction currently underway on Melbourne Marriott Hotel Docklands.
Normanby Melbourne, designed by DKO Architects, will be located in the Fishermans Bend area of Port Melbourne, and feature shopping and dining venues.
“The AC Melbourne Southbank underscores the growing demand we’re seeing in Australia for premium lifestyle hotels that offer style and functional design, as well as authentic and memorable travel experiences connected to the location,” said Richard Crawford, Senior Director Development, Marriott Australia, New Zealand and Pacific.
Capital Alliance Founder and Chief Executive, Mohan Du, said “we are really excited to partner with Marriott International to bring a new hotel to Fishermans Bend. We believe in the potential of this area, just as we believed in Melbourne Docklands, and it’s great that Marriott International shares our confidence. Just a stone’s throw from the city, Fishermans Bend is going to redefine inner suburban living and the AC Melbourne Southbank will attract sophisticated and discerning travellers to the area.”
Crema Group is an appropriate choice for the build, having completed similar mixed-use developments in Melbourne’s CBD and inner-city suburbs, such as 399 Little Lonsdale Street.
